Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:

Maramba River Lodge provides financial assistance to local organisations and projects. They ensure security for tourists and also organize events and exhibitions by local people.

Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:

Over the years, Maramba River Lodge has provided financial assistance to a number of organisations such as Maramba Old Age Home, Girls & Women Living Standards (GWLS), Lubasi Home Trust, The Lions Club of Mosi-O-Tunya, Mwandi Mission and Sakubita School.

The lodge is also actively involved with the Tourism Police Unit whose aim is to provide a safe environment for tourists to visit Livingstone and its surrounding areas, by providing a strong economic base for employment for Zambians and revenue for the government.

The managing director, Russell Young, is a police reservist and is involved with security patrols with regular officers in and around the Livingstone suburbs enabling Zambians to go about their daily lives.

Cultural events and exhibitions from local artists are organised regularly by the management of the lodge.
