Botswana Safari 1 Day 1 NIght
On this safari, participants get the opportunity to get up close and personal with fantastic birdlife, hippos, crocodiles and, of course, the scores of elephant and Cape buffalo that make their way down to the river to quench their thirst. With some luck, one can also spot a lion, leopard, wild dog and other game.
The tour is run by licensed professional guides.
The tour itinerary is as follows:
Day 1: Guests will be met at Kazungula by their guide at 8:30 am and escorted through immigration formalities. There is an opportunity to do any last minute shopping in Kaasane, as there are no shops within the park. A short briefing will follow on safety and some regional information.
At 9.30 am, guests board the boat and commence a 3-hour boat cruise into the Chobe National Park. The river cruise is considered one of the highlights of the trip as one gets the opportunity to see most of the animals. The boat cruise ends at White Sands at 12.30 pm and the safari guide will be waiting to do a game drive to the wilderness campsite for lunch.
After a hearty lunch and settling into tents, guests will have tea and depart for an afternoon game drive - this is the best time to see Chobe's large herbivores making their way down to the river for a drink of water. The group returns to the camp shortly after sunset for drinks around the campfire and dinner.
Day 2: Guests are woken at dawn with warm water being poured into basins and a friendly Botswana dumela (good day!) greeting. After a quick cup of tea or coffee and a light breakfast, they leave the national park to be dropped off at Kasane, Kazungula between 8.30 am and 9 am.
Participant guidelines
The tour price is inclusive of all camping equipment, spacious walk-in tents with a bed roll and bedding, park fees, food, mineral water and house wine with dinner.
The tour price does not include soft drinks, beers, visas (if necessary) and items of a personal nature like towels and toiletries.
All trips will have a back-up team, including a cook, and minimal participation is required. Ablutions consist of rustic open-air bucket showers and long drop style toilets.
There are two departures weekly - on Tuesdays and Fridays. In the event of groups of over six people, these set days are flexible.
The Livingstone transfer is not included in the tour rate; US $ 30 per person, one way, will be added to the tour fee.
