Sussi & ChumaAddress: Sussi & Chuma – Mosi-oa-Tunya, Livingstone view map
Sussi & Chuma is located on the banks of the Zambezi River; it's so close to the water that you can stand on the lawn and cast tiger and bream. Sussi & Chuma is excellently situated for proximity to Livingstone town and the world-famous Victoria Falls.
Sussi & Chuma pay tribute to the two faithful Zambian bearers who bravely carried David Livingstone's body for 1500 km from the fringe of the Bangweulu swamps, where he died in 1873, to the port of Dar es Salaam, from where it was shipped to London and interned at Westminster Abbey.
Sussi & Chuma has been built from natural materials and blends beautifully into the forest. Like the rest of the lodge, its décor is a charming mix of African colours, curios and artistry. Black and white pictures of Sussi and Chuma grace the walls along with carved artworks and African prints, while small Bushmen figurines guard the winding staircases that lead up from the swimming deck to the lounge and bar. Much of the park falls within an area previously called Old Drift where the first white settlers made their homes in the 19th century.
The main lodge at Sussi & Chuma building features a spectacular raised bar / lounge deck, open air dining area, curio shop and swimming pool sweeping down to the water's edge. Revitalising spa treatments are also available.
