The Lion Drive
You’ve done a Lion Walk, now climb aboard our game drive vehicle and meet the older sub-adult lions who have “graduated” from walking to hunting in Dambwa Forest.
Join our pride in stunning Dambwa Forest as they bond, play, laze around and hunt.
Once on the game drive vehicle, and surrounded by lions, our experienced guide will tell you more about the life of a lion, give insights into their individual characters, social dynamics, and who’s who in the pride.
Lion Encounter can't guarantee what activity the lions will be doing at your time of visit, they may be hurting, they may be sleeping.
You will be picked up from your Lodge or Hotel and driven to the stunning Dambwa Forest where our hospitality team will be waiting to greet you with snacks and refreshments in our welcome area, nestled amongst majestic winter thorn trees. Your guide for the activity will give you a safety briefing and give you information on our lion release programme.
You will be picked up from your lodge or hotel and taken out to the Dambwa Forest approx 25 KM outside of Livingstone
town. From here, you’ll enter the reserve for your game drive, and a chance to visit these pioneering lions. Your drive
will last approximately an hour and a half, after which you can stop for a soft drink or some water and then head back to your accommodation
After this, you're ready to go, and you will be asked to climb into customised 4x4 vehichle wil be a guide and a lion handler, plus a researcher will also be present on the trip, who are all more than happy to answer any questions that you have. A maximum of 2 vehicles will be accompanying the trip.
Once aboard your vehicle you're ready to meet the stars of the day - 'The Lions.' Our Lions are radio collard so we can track them, you will receive a guaranteed lion sighting.
