Pick ups are provided to guests staying within the Livingstone area.
Boats can be booked exclusively on request. Breakfast and lunch cruises are also available upon prior arrangement. Guests are requested to let the organisers know dietary requirements at time of booking.
Cancellation policy
The cancellation policy is as follows:
- cancellations made more than 30 days before travel result in loss of deposit
- cancellations made between 30 and eight days of travel incur 25% cancellation fee
- cancellations made between seven and two days of travel incur 50% cancellation fee
- cancellations made within 24hours of travel (or no-shows) are charged 100% cancellation fee
- if a participant is sick and can provide a doctor's note, he is given 100% refund.
Zambezi River Cruise Makumbi/Mabushi
Safari Par Excellence currently runs three cruise boats - MV Makumbi, MV Mambushi and The Lady Livingstone - which are suitable for private functions and can be booked on an exclusive basis, on request.
The cruise is along the river boundary of the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, around Siloka Island and back to the Waterfront jetty.
The total cruise time is 2 hours and 30 minutes. From the boats, sightings of elephant, giraffe and even rhino coming down to the river to drink are common. There are also abundant hippos, crocodiles and birdlife to be seen.
There are two types of cruises, one includes a complimentary bar and freshly baked snacks; the other includes a complimentary bar and freshly baked snacks.
An experienced guide accompanies each cruise and has good knowledge of the wildlife and local history of the area.
Guests are picked up from within the Livingstone area and transferred to the Waterfront (for Makumbi or Mambushi) or to David Livingstone Safari Lodge and Spa (for The Lady Livingstone).
The cruise time is two hours and 30 minutes; clients will be served snacks and drinks. After sunset, the boat docks and clients are transferred back to their accommodation.
Participant guidelines
Clients are requested to bring with them some warm clothes during the winter months. Insect repellent is also recommended.
